Lend Me Your Ears

Lend me your ears and I'll tell you a tale I never meant to tell—
I'll tell you all about how I stopped going to hell
It started with a book; it started with me reading
The paper was a gauze you used to stop the bleeding.

Golly, gee, oh woah was me, before I found your pages.
You wrote a love story with yourself and it's one for the ages.
This light of mine brought it in time, when I needed it most.
You saved me from just killing time–from living as a ghost

A quiet life of desperation is no way to live
Let's live our lives out loud now, we have so much to give.
Creation begat creation, loving leads to love
This brings me to how I know I'm heading up above.

gods inside everyone of us, waiting to be known
Words inside me lit a fire and, oh, how bright it shone.
A cheetah ain't less a cheetah when kept inside a zoo —
The simple truth is always there, don't let 'em deceive you.

Oh golly, gee, how woah was me before I found your pages.
Let's live a love story with ourselves; the earnin's worth the wages.
Oh, little light of mine, shine bright! Live no more as a ghost!
We'll save each other from ourselves, whene'r we need it most.
