Announcement of Intent to Announce

Hello and welcome to this post. I wanted to share that I am in the natal stages of recording my first solo album, which, being me, has already lead to ideas for future projects as well. The working title for the project is, “Songs for my Friends,” and I wanted to write a little bit about the journey I’m trying to go on. I’m going to record a mix of new songs and older things I’ve written that I feel like you all deserve to hear. I kind of feel I’ve played things a little too close to the vest these last few years, when I could have been sharing what I’ve been working on.

Those of you who have known me since college probably know William the bass player. Those of you who have known me longer may think of me musically as a trumpet player. Since college, I have taken up the guitar as well. I’ve talked about my musical journey before in more detail in Prologue: Inspiration so if you’re interested in that please give it a read!

At the present time the plan for the album is to be primarily originals I have already written. I’m going to record the first song I ever wrote, “Dream Girl,” as well as revisiting some poetry I wrote in college and setting some of that to music. I’m also writing new material for this album as well.

I’m also going to record three covers to round out the album. Two of them will represent the contributions that you, my friends, have made to my musical journey. The third cover will be a song that has been important to me for some time. I haven’t locked these down yet, so if there’s anything in particular you’d like to hear me perform, please hit me up. You can text me, call me, email me, or even use the contact form on this site.

So, what does the future hold? I would love for this album to come out this year, but I’ve never put out an album and I want to do it properly, so it may take longer than that. I also am doing this while staying busy with y other projects; Lo Temps and Daphne + the Glitches. I also mentioned I have some other ideas, and for those I’ll leave you with this sample:
